Who I am and why I’m here.

Started a new adventure today and my first assignment is: write and publish a “who I am and why I’m here” post.
I accept the challenge mainly because I’ve been trying to get a blog started since forever and I have a feeling that today’s my day, folks!
In any case, dear Anne Lamott says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “shitty first draft” so blessed be thy word and here we go!

Who am I and why I’m here?

I am a daughter, a friend, an artist and just another soul pretty lost in this world, or at least as lost as most of you are, who has always had an itch to write.
This is my first true venture into the official blogging world and I’m excited to be here.
It turns out, I have a lot to get off my chest, which isn’t surprising really as for as long as I can remember I have been battling with an obsession to travel the world, explore new sights, learn new things, taste new food and meet new people.

But these little fantasies of mine cost time, money and a lot of dedication. Which I truly have, in certain amounts. Not enough to enjoy them as often as I would like to but just enough to get a fairly dose of happiness now and then. Which I plan to share with you.

I’m deeply inspired by this response from Tara Moss when she was asked for the advice she’d give on writing: “Write. Start writing today. Start writing right now. Don’t write it right, just write it –and then make it right later. Give yourself the mental freedom to enjoy the process, because the process of writing is a long one. Be wary of “writing rules” and advice. Do it your way.”

So I think I’m going to take her advice. And just do it. Write, that is.

I received the same advice to write every day from a blogger when I started and it is so true. Each day you get better and you learn so much from other bloggers. WordPress is a wonderful community and very supportive. If travelling is what you like, what a great way to start by blogging…I have made some amazing friends around the world blogging. Blessings, and thank you for following my blog. I don’t blog as much on this blog lately due to lack of time but this one is the one where I do not have to censure anything. My friends do not have access to this blog. At cheryllynnroberts.info I write poetry mostly…At Traces of the soul, it is everything.

Keep on writing. You will do fine. After a while (6 months, no less) look at your stats. You will see which posts “work” better than others. Who visits you (countries) etc. But do wait to have a significant amount of published posts.
    Welcome to blogging.
